Successful trial attorneys agree that the effective use of motion practice is not only an important part of a trial lawyer’s arsenal, but a critical element in the outcome of any case. If you fail to prepare the motion portion of a case thoroughly and appropriately, you may later discover that your case was lost at the motion stage!

This seminar will present a comprehensive analysis of the theories, mechanics, and strategies
underlying motion practice – for both plaintiffs and defense attorneys. You’ll learn how to effectively prepare the motion portion of your case, how to select the appropriate motions, and the optimum time for presenting each motion.

What you’ll learn at the program...
• An overview of basic to advanced motion practice, featuring how to handle motions including:
      - Dismissing the plaintiff’s complaint or the defendant’s separate defense for failure to answer interrogatories
      - Confirming arbitration awards
      - Setting fees for an expert’s deposition
• The standard for granting summary judgment motions.
• Filing of a statement of material facts and citations with every summary judgment motion in accordance with the Court Rules - how failure to meet these requirements may result in denial of your summary judgment motions
• How to win motions for summary judgment
• Time requirements for filing and giving notice of motions and responding to motions.
• Crucial motions in limine and post-trial motions
            …and more
