JOHN F. BURTON, JR.

John F. Burton, Jr. is Professor Emeritus at the School of Management and Labor Relations of Rutgers University, and Professor Emeritus at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations of Cornell University. His home office is located in Princeton, New Jersey, and he is a former Dean of the School of Management and Labor Relations and former Director of the Institute of Management and Labor Relations. His research interests include Workers’ Compensation, social insurance, employment law and public sector bargaining.

A Fellow of the American Bar Association College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, Dr. Burton is a Member of the ABA Task Force to Review the American Medical Association Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment and Chair of the Study Panel on National Data on Workers’ Compensation for the National Academy of Social Insurance. He is a former Member of the United States Department of Energy’s Workers Advocacy Advisory Committee for the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act, Past President of the Labor and Employment Relations Association and a former Editor of the Workers’ Compensation Policy Review. He is the author of numerous articles and reports for professional publications.

Dr. Burton received his B.S. from Cornell University and his LL.B. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan.
